Your Knees Are A Little Safer Now That Rodney Harrison Retired
Called “the dirtiest player in the league” by many NFL players, Rodney Harrison has retired after 15 seasons. A majority of the complaints about cheap shots will disappear this upcoming NFL season, as well.
Although I’m a Patriots fan, even I, and hopefully every other Patriots fan, knows that Rodney Harrison is basically an asshole when it comes to playing football. Although I’ve never talked to him, I bet he’s an amicable guy and a nice guy. When he steps on a football field though, you could have saved his child from a fire, and he would still light you the fuck up if he’s supposed to.
Harrison’s not just dirty in the aspect of playing. He was also suspended for 4 games in 2007 for using illegal substances. I find the use of any kind of PEDs despicable, hence the reason I’m skeptical about baseball now, so Harrison wasn’t one of the players I liked in New England. In the end, though, he was a great defensive leader, and Tedy Bruschi won’t be there much longer, so there has to be another veteran that can step up and give this very old defense some kind of morale.
I probably would have liked Harrison more, had he not let this happen.

He is the reason, however, that Vince Young doesn’t want to play. Note: this was in a pre-season game, and look how seriously Rodney Harrison takes the play. You won’t find that in many players.
Damn. I had hopes he’d run into Jack Tatum and get what he deserved.
That hit has got to be the reason why VY is always shirtless. You know, brain damage and such.
I wonder what VY would have scored on the Wonderlic after that hit? Are negative numbers even possible?
Test Admin: Vince, you got a -4 on your retake?
VY: Huh? (drools on desk)
TA: You even spelled you name wrong. Who the fuck is “3e%0f !2;/de”???
VY: Huh?? (Starts to weep)
TA: Get the hell out of here, you’re actually making me dumber by being in the same room as you.
Didn’t Young get a -4 or so to start with?
Oh, wait — it was 6 out of a possible 50. Which means he probably spelled his name “Vince !2;/de”.
Dammit — WordPress ate my reply. Anyhow, for your amusement, Vince Young’s infamous 6/50 Wonderlic*:

*May or may not be real.
I still have bad memories associated with this guy from Super Bowl XXXIX. Good riddance.
Samer’s a Pats fan? …Really? He hasn’t said anything that would lead me to that conclusion…this week.
Just throwing it out there for further reference, in case you haven’t read any post by me ever.
I just assume that all bloggers are 93% likely to be Boston sports fans. It’s easier that way.
I didn’t know Billick was gay. But that now that I think about it, it makes sense.
Kurt Warner is sending Harrison a ‘Thank You’ card.
Somewhere Vince is masturbating with his tears as lube.
/pats fan who knows Rodney is a douchebag
I’m OK with him retiring…for all the talk of intangibles, James Sanders does just as good of a job at this point.
Also, Strategic Planning meetings suck. Glad to be back in the ranks of the living after 5 hours of that mess…
@ Samer
You a fellow New Englander? That means I have another person to share the Boston fueled hate from all the other members of the commentariat with? Finally!
Why, yes I am. Look at my title in the Roster…

Feel free to send me Boston/hate mail, I enjoy mail in general as long as it’s not from princesses who need me to transfer funds.
I wouldn’t make a good princess.
Lawrence born here, but got out of there/mass quick. Up in NH now. Good to see another NE fan who isn’t a Tawmmy.
You know whose knees aren’t safe? Tom Brady. That’s right, I’m coming for you. Again
Love,
Bernard Pollard
Mark that as the only time someone from Nashville actually liked Pollard.
Billick blew that same kiss to Charles Nelson Reilly on The Match Game.
Why is Hines Ward tryng to break up a pass to David Tyree?
Samer–Why did you have to post that photo? My day is ruined! Seriously, no matter what anyone thinks of him, all Pats fans owe a shitload to Rodney. He was a major contributor to our team and he will be sorely missed.
And please leave me be with any Pats hate till Sept!
You won’t find that in many players.
Um, Samer, I don’t know how to tell you this, but steroid use is probably pretty common in the NFL, so, yeah…
But will you be able to find it? Therein lies the problem.
So is apathy and laziness, but that’s actually pretty easy to spot. Just look in Shaun Rodgers’ general direction.
Actually, I think Mike Shannahan getting the can had a more positive impact on NFL’rs knees.
